Out in the open, they can be killed with ease. Instead, they burrow unseen from dirty water, mud, or the like. Their aim is to feed on living beings, and to lay eggs in their bodies. In the first ten seconds after infection, someone can kill the rot grubs through fire or scalpel on a First Aid, Esoteric Medicine or Physician roll. Success does 1d-2 cutting or burning; critical success does 1 point. Failure does 1d cutting or burning, and critical failure does 2d damage. After ten seconds, only Cure Disease can save the patient. From the Tome of Horrors, p. 420.

Detect: Vision. Once the rot grubs infect a victim, a successful Perception roll lets the victim feel the strange burrowing under his skin.
Disarm: A successful strike with a crushing weapon kills as many rot grubs as it does points of damage.
Circumvent: Automatic (don’t walk near the rot grubs).
Evade: No.
Effects: Every 5 seconds, the victim must Resist HT or take 1d HT.
Shots: 1.
Rearm: Automatic.
Steal: Yes; you now have a bunch of rot grubs. They do not make good eating.
Offensive Rating: 38.
